Every Family Deserves Support

Our Story

About ADHD Islington

ADHD Islington was founded over ten years ago after our founder’s own child was diagnosed with ADHD.

At the time, it quickly became clear that there was very little local support available for families navigating the everyday realities of ADHD. Wanting to change that, a small support group was created where parents and carers could meet, share experiences and support one another.

What began with just a handful of local families has grown into a strong and trusted community that has supported families across Islington for more than a decade.

Our team is made up of passionate volunteers, many of whom are parents and carers of children and young people with ADHD themselves. We understand many of the challenges because we are living them too — yet we continue to give our time, energy and experience back to our community.

What We Do

Working Together

Our dedicated team of volunteers delivers a wide range of support designed to help families feel informed, connected, and empowered.

Monthly Support Groups

Our monthly meetings provide a safe and welcoming environment where parents and carers can talk openly, ask questions, exchange advice and build lasting friendships.

We share practical tips and ideas to help with everyday life, including preparing for school meetings, working with schools and professionals, supporting routines at home, sleep, sensory needs and emotional wellbeing.

Working With Our Community

We work closely with local services and community partners, including CAMHS, NHS professionals and Help on Your Doorstep, and take part in regular meetings to stay informed about local developments and changes.

We share feedback from parents and carers to help highlight what is working well, where families are facing difficulties and where local support could be improved.

Family Activities

When funding allows, we organise wellbeing sessions, family activities, children’s events, seasonal celebrations and day trips that give families the chance to connect, enjoy time together and create positive memories.

Through the strong relationships we have built with local organisations and services, our families also benefit from regular opportunities such as free tickets, discounted entry to local venues and access to special events including London Zoo, Winter Wonderland and larger community celebrations like the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

Expert Advice

We regularly invite guest speakers, local professionals and specialist services to our sessions, giving parents and carers the opportunity to hear trusted information, ask questions and gain practical guidance on topics that matter to their families.

Topics can include ADHD support, education, wellbeing, behaviour, sensory needs, sleep, benefits advice, cost-of-living support, local services and navigating support for children and young people.
